1996 "Horse of the Year" Continentalvictory was the first of three Hambletonian winners that have been bred by Brittany Farms. She took her place in Standardbred history as only the 13th of her gender--a filly--to have won the Hambletonian, the sport's most coveted prize. Her time in capturing her Hambo elimination, 1:52.1, equalled the overall World Record for 3-year-olds that was held by Mack Lobell at the time, established a new a World Record for 3-year-old fillies, and set a new Meadowlands track record.
Like so many of the truly great horses, she showed her brilliance as a 2-year-old as well as at 3. During her championship freshman season she went on a nine-race winning streak from August through November that saw her set a stakes record and season's record winning the Breeders Crown in 1:55.3.
Her dam, the Brittany Farms broodmare Intercontinental, has produced six stakes winners and six $100,000 yearlings, while Continentalvictory herself has been a wonder in the marketplace. Her first foal topped the 2000 Tattersalls Sale at $450,000, while her second was 2001's second-highest priced colt at $300,000.
