State Treasurer is another example of a small purchase price getting the yearling buyer a whole lot of horse! Bought for $6,500 as a yearling by Paul and Sally MacDonald, State Treasurer went on to bank more than $1.9-million in his stellar career.

His 33 career victories were highlighted by an amazing four-race win streak in the heat of summer, which started with a World Record, 1:47 triumph in the U.S. Pacing Championship on Hambletonian Day at the Meadowlands. Not only a world mark, it was the fastest mile recorded by a pacer of any age in 2015.

That score was followed by a track-record win in the Roll With Joe at Tioga Downs, and culminated with a sweep of the elim and final of the rich Canadian Pacing Derby.

His trainer Dr. Ian Moore said of him: “He's been racing year-in and year-out with the best horses and he's just gotten better and better. He's given us a lot of thrills. He's been terrific since the start of his racing career.”

State Treasurer is now a stallion at Seelster Farms in Ontario, with his oldest foals 4-year-olds in 2022.
