American Ideal, Artiscape dominate 3YO NYSS

Brittany Stallion Management sires accounted for five of the nine division winners in the opening leg of the New York Sire Stakes 3-year-old pacing events, with American Ideal’s Heston Blue Chip setting a North American Season’s Record and Artiscape’s Breakin The Law taking his sixth straight victory.
In the $339,040 (div.) NYSS 3-Year-Old Colt Pace at a rainy Yonkers Raceway on May 21, Heston Blue Chip p,2,1:50.4f ($409,074), picked by all observers to be among the top sophomore pacing colts of 2012, lived up to the hype in his first start of the season.
With fenders on the race bikes on a track labeled “good,” Heston Blue Chip nonetheless flew to a wire to wire 1:52 win–the fastest mile this year by a 3YO colt pacer over a half-mile track. (Watch race - Complete video links below)
Artiscape 3-year-olds picked up two other divisions that night–also in North American Season’s record time (geldings)–with Breakin The Law p,3,1:50.3 ($124,163) and Brittany-bred Escape The News p,2,1:50.3 ($268,870) capturing their respective divisions in 1:53.2.
For Breakin The Law, who swept the Spring Survivor Series at the Meadowlands, it was his sixth straight win and ninth in his last ten efforts. For Escape The News, the win came in his first stakes start of the season. He was a stellar 2-year-old last year, winning the International Stallion Stakes at The Red Mile and an elim of the $510,000 Governor’s Cup at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
On the distaff side of the ledger, American Ideal 3-year-old fillies won two of four divisions of the $134,564 NYSS contested at Vernon Downs on May 19.
His daughter Romantic Moment p,3,1:51 ($160,198) took only a moment to get to the front and go on to score in a sizzling 1:51 flat in her first start of the year. In another division, the American Ideal filly Brownsville Bomber would not be denied, coming from fourth at the top of the lane and pacing her final quarter in :26.4 for a dead-heat win.
With the speed and determination shown by these horses this early in the stakes season, you can easily see that great things lie ahead this year for both of Brittany’s popular New York pacing stallions–American Ideal and Artiscape!
