Soho Tribeca

A pacer with a New York-themed name is more than making a name for himself in Australia. American Ideal’s son Soho Tribeca won his second Group One stakes last weekend, scoring in the AU$450,000 Western Australia Cup at Gloucester Park. (Watch Race)

The now 6-year-old covered the “extreme” distance of 2,936 meters (1.8 miles) in a mile rate of 1:56.4 in what Harnesslink.com termed “a very easy victory.”

Soho Tribeca, a horse with All-American bloodlines (American Ideal-Pixel Perfect, by Art Major), was bred by his owner Robert Watson. He has now earned AU$882,609 (US$706,373), and with a full slate of top-notch performances, could be well on his way to joining his sire’s list of 11 worldwide millionaires.

During the current North American breeding season, American Ideal stands at Blue Chip Farms in New York at a fee of $10,000, and as is well known, has a stellar list of accomplishments stateside, including siring last season’s World Champion and Dan Patch Champion 2-year-old filly pacer, Youaremycandygirl p,2,1:50 ($895,615).
