Nov 14th, 11
Four Starzzz Shark fillies finished 1-2 in the $126,600 Matron Stakes 2YO Filly Pace, while American Ideal’s Heston Blue Chip won the $177,275 Matron for 2YO colt pacers in 1:50.4--just 1/5 off the World Record.
The late-season stake at Dover Downs for freshman fillies saw Four Starzzz Shark’s Destiny’s Chance p,2,1:52 ($287,098) hold on for a nose victory over fast-closing Four Starzzz Girl p,2,1:53.3f ($63,275). Watch video
Randy Ringer’s Destiny’s Chance, who won the Matron elim the week previous, has now taken five stakes wins in her last six starts. Her other scores came in the Standardbred Stakes at Delaware, Ohio, the Bluegrass at The Red Mile (where she defeated eventual Breeders Crown winner Economy Terror), and the Circle City at Indiana Downs. She was second in the $200,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Final.
Brenda Teague and Fannin Racing’s Four Starzzz Girl is a three-time winner this year who took her 1:53.3 mark in an overnight at Harrah’s Chester.
Heston Blue Chip p,2,1:50.4f ($375,650) is showing that American Ideal has more than only a great filly (American Jewel) heading into their 3-year-old seasons. His 1:50.4 win in the Matron was a North American Season’s Record and was just one-fifth shy of the world record held by Rock N Roll Heaven (1:50.3). Watch video
This colt, owned by Kenneth Jacobs, is now 11-2-0 in 13 starts, is the 2011 New York Sire Stakes Champion, and now a Matron winner. He has to be considered a major contender for the million-dollar classics in the 3-year-old “glamour division” in 2012.
