Red MileAs the curtain falls on a week of record-breaking sales and two spectacular weekends of Grand Circuit racing, all of us at Brittany Farms send our thanks… to everyone who inspected, bid on and purchased our yearlings, and to the fans for showing such enthusiastic support of racing at the Red Mile.

The owners and trainers of racehorses bred, raised and sold as yearlings by Brittany had an excellent meet, led by Six Pack winning the $620,000 Kentucky Futurity in world record time and American History, a horse who’s been on the verge of a big win all year, taking his most important score in the Tattersalls Pace.

At the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, Brittany’s best seller was Hip 58 Ontopofthehill, a Muscle Hill colt out of On The Bright Side, who was purchased by Mickey Burke for Elite Trotting for $250,000.

Another farm standout was the Captaintreacherous colt Captain Kirk, the first foal from Aria Hanover, who sold for $200,000 to Tony Alagna, agent for Captain’s Court. Captaintreacherous’ first crop of 2-year-olds is having the kind of breakout year on the racetrack that many expected, and it showed in prices at the sale.

In all, Brittany yearlings averaged more than $70,000, and those by our New York stallion American Ideal just shy of $50,000—five times his stud fee.

The American Ideals were led by a $245,000 colt from Think Pink that was consigned by Preferred Equine and bought by Ken Jacobs, and a $135,000 filly from Glowing Report sold by Cameo Hills and purchased by Willow Oak Ranch.

Again, Brittany extends its sincere thanks to buyers for showing confidence in the product we turn out… the horses we breed, raise and care for the best we can, so they have every chance of becoming champions. We wish all of you the greatest racing luck!
