The NFL playoffs weren't the only exciting thing on the sports schedule last weekend. The “new” Meadowlands kicked off its winter late closers Friday and Saturday nights, with sons of Brittany stallions Four Starzzz Shark and Real Desire posting impressive wins in the Presidential, Clyde Hirt and Complex Series.

Four Starzzz Shark’s richest and fastest son River Shark p,1:48.4 ($755,357) increased his earnings to over three-quarters of a million dollars with an eye opening 1:48.4 win--a career best--in his $40,000 division of the Presidential Series for free-for-all pacers Saturday night. Watch video

He took over the lead past the half and tacked on a sizzling :26.3 last quarter to win going away. It was the 23rd lifetime victory for the lightning-fast 6-year-old who is owned by trainer Mark Ford and partners VIP Internet Stable, Robert DiNozzi and El Lobo LLC. He was bred by Steve Stewart and Myron Bell.

Real Desire, another sire whose offspring win stakes early then go on to further their credentials as older pacers, had two impressive weekend winners at the Meadowlands.

His 4-year-old son Voice Of Truth p,3,1:50.1f ($129,427), was the best of an 11-horse field in his $18,000 Complex Series division. He powered down the stretch to score in 1:51.2 by way of a fast :26.3 closing quarter. He is owned by Judy Magie and trained by Brian Magie Jr.

Another Real Desire 4-year-old, Real Flight p,4,1:51.4 ($79,155) raced to his 4-5 odds and made it two for two in the new year as he took control early and went on to post a 1:52.1 win in his $16,000 division of the Clyde Hirt Series. He is owned by Jeffrey Bamond and trained by P. J. Fraley. He was bred and sold as a yearling by Brittany Farms.

With breeding season getting underway in less than a month, Four Starzzz Shark and Real Desire are two stallions that certainly merit your attention, especially if you’re planning to breed foals eligible to slots-fueled sire stakes programs in Pennsylvania and Indiana.
