Glidemaster 2-year-old fillies take center stage
Aug 23rd, 11
World Champion, Triple Crown winner and “Horse of the Year” Glidemaster proved his ability to sire at the very top level with his first crop, led by last year’s 2-year-old Canadian Champion and 2011 Goodtimes winner Blue Porsche 2,1:54.1; 3,1:54 ($607,198). And he did it with limited numbers, as his first crop totalled only 49 foals.
This year, he’s showing he can sire great fillies to go along with those great colts, and again, it’s from a limited number of 55 foals of 2009. His 2011 2-year-old daughters include five recent stakes winners that you’ll be hearing more about as the season progresses.
Taking her second stakes victory--just after a second-place finish in the $333,200 Merrie Annabelle--was Glidemaster’s Love Walked In 2,1:57.1f ($129,636), who captured her split of the $222,536 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes at the Meadows in a career best 1:57.1 by three widening lengths.
She joins another top Glidemaster freshman filly in Maven 2,1:56f ($72,356). She's now 4 for 5 in her young career, the year’s fastest 2-year-old filly trotter on a 5/8-mile track and a track record-holder at Pocono Downs. Her four wins were all in stakes races, as she scored in the Tompkins-Geers, Arden Downs and a pair of Pennsylvania Sire Stakes at The Meadows and Pocono.
Glidemaster’s other stakes winning 2-year-old fillies over the past two weeks include Sunset Magic 2,1:58.1f, Devilicious 2,1:59.4f and Cannot Tell A Lie 2,2:04.4h. His percentage of 2011 2-year-old stakes winners and 2:00 trotters from foals is enough to be the envy of other leading commercial sires.
As you shop for yearlings this fall, remember that Glidemaster offers the rare daily double of tremendous promise coupled with outstanding value. With one of his colts or fillies you buy into the promise of “shooting for the moon” in our sport’s major stakes races, along with value per start that can’t be beat in the ultra-rich Pennsylvania Sire Stakes program!
