Pleaseletmeknow Wins Messenger Stakes

July 05, 2022

American Ideal’s 3-year-old son Pleaseletmeknow p,3,1:51.3h raised his career earnings to more than $360,000 with a powerful victory in the first leg of pacing’s Triple Crown — the $261,730 Messenger Stakes at Yonkers Raceway. (Watch Race)

It was the third straight year the Messenger has been won by a son of American Ideal, as American Courage p,4,1:47.4f ($590,122) won the 2021 edition and American Mercury p,3,1:49.3 ($903,765) won in 2020.

Pleaseletmeknow's victory last Friday over heavily-backed Gulf Shores was his fifth win in seven starts this year and his eighth in 13 career starts.

The Fiddler’s Creek Stables bred and owned sophomore gelding, by American Ideal-I Said Please, is trained by Travis Alexander. He was a multiple stakes winner last year as a 2-year-old and came into the Messenger Final after winning his elim the week prior. He’s also won a pair of New York Sire Stakes this season and finished second in another.

American Ideal, managed by Brittany Stallion Management and standing at Blue Chip Farms in New York, ranks as the leading active pacing sire in the U.S. again this year, with progeny earnings of $7,312,317 through July 4.

He also wears his mantle of being the number one pacing sire in the monied New York Sire Stakes program again this year.

With the stakes barely underway, his 2 and 3-year-old sons and daughters have already amassed more than $600,000 in NYSS events. They’ve won 10 NYSS races to date, with 3-year-old daughter Gotthegreenlight p,2, 1:51 ($354,462) winning two NYSS plus the $104,790 Park-MGM Final at Yonkers.

His 2-year-old NYSS winners — with bright futures — already include two-time winner Vivians Dream p,2,1:54.4h and American Fling p,2,1:53.1f.

American Ideal (see stallion page) will be strongly represented at the fall yearling sales in both Lexington and Harrisburg. Buy one — and get in on the action!
