May 4th, 12
Some top-shelf 3-year-olds have recently surfaced at Woodbine, and Brittany’s World Champion sires American Ideal, Artiscape and Real Desire made a clean sweep of that track's sophomore late closers on May 3.
Real Desire’s State Treasurer and American Ideal’s Arts Ideal Hanover won both splits of the Diplomat Series for colts, while Artiscape’s Stage It Right snared the single division of the Princess Series for fillies.

Brittany Farms bred, raised and sold State Treasurer p,3,1:52 (Real Desire-Ideal Treasure), who was placed in his Metro elim and was a Breeders Crown contestant last year at 2. This year he’s won both legs of the Diplomat Series, most recently in 1:52, and is stamping himself as a legitimate contender for the $1.5-million Pepsi North America Cup.
He is owned by Sally and Sophie MacDonald and trained by Dr. Ian Moore.
The speedy Arts Ideal Hanover p,3,1:51.3 (American Ideal-Art’s Lady Diana) has crafted a record of 2-2-1 in 6 starts this year for owners Christina Takter, Marvin Katz, Al Libfeld, Sam Goldband and Brixton Medical AB. The Jimmy Takter trainee delivered as the 4/5 favorite in his Diplomat division, coming home the victor in a career best 1:51.3 after a :27.2 final quarter.
He’s shaping up as yet another top-flight colt by the amazing young sire American Ideal.
Stage It Right p,3,1:52.3 (Artiscape-Whenuwishuponastar) has never been off the board in her racing career and now has five wins in eight starts after her first-over 1:52.3 score in the Princess Series. She is now two for two in the series for owners Richard Lombardo and Howard Taylor and trainer Rick Zeron.
If you have a late mare or have waited to make a breeding decision for 2012, all three of these stallions–American Ideal, Artiscape and Real Desire–offer World Champion production and eligibility to exceptional sire stakes programs. They certainly merit your consideration.
