Brittany-bred Wishing Stone wins the Bluegrass
10 . 1 . 2009
Cowboyland Aalborg’s 2-year-old colt trotter Wishing Stone 2,1:55 ($119,631), bred, raised and sold as a yearling by Brittany Farms, won his second stakes race in his last three starts by capturing his division of the $422,000 Bluegrass at The Red Mile in a career best 1:55. The son of Yankee Glide-Meadowbranch Magic (Valley Victory) is conditioned by Dewayne Minor and driven by John Campbell.
Wishing Stone, sold last fall at the Lexington Selected Sale under the Brittany banner, became the fourth $100,000-plus winner and third 1:55 trotter produced by his dam.
In the past month alone, in addition to the Bluegrass, horses bred by Brittany Farms have won the Cane Pace (Vintage Master), Hayes Memorial, Keystone Classic, ONSS Gold Final, John Simpson and others. Vintage Master’s score in the Cane was notable as it helped propel him to elite status...he’s now the 20th million-dollar winner bred by Brittany Farms or Brittany Farms & Partners!
If you’re in Lexington this weekend for Grand Circuit racing and the sale, you’ll see Vintage Master and several other top Brittany-breds in action on the Kentucky Futurity undercard on Saturday, including the highly-regarded 2-year-old Woodstock in the Bluegrass Stakes freshman pace.
