Real Desire has a budding superstar in Real Joke
1 . 17 . 2010
Brittany Stallion Management’s Real Desire has proven his ability to sire the “big horse,” as Pacer of the Year and current Brittany stallion Tell All was a member of his very first crop. He’s also proven his ability to sire extreme speed, as he is the sire of no less than 10 horses that have taken marks of 1:49.4 or faster.
Now comes another horse that may just meet both of those criteria, as his son Real Joke p,4,1:51 is quickly making a name for himself as the hottest horse at the Meadowlands winter meet. He’s now 3 for 3 on the new year and has won back-to-back in the Clyde Hirt Series at the Big M, scoring most recently in one of the season’s fastest miles, 1:51 flat, with a :26.4 last quarter tacked on for good measure.
The now 4-year-old, bred by Jayne Cummins and Genesis Racing Stable, is owned by Brian Gordon, Toby Rekoon and Stewart Goldberg and is trained by Julie Miller. Best of luck as they head to the $95,000 Clyde Hirt Series final, likely as the prohibitive favorite.
And as the race’s namesake, the late harness racing writer Clyde Hirt, would say, “’Nuf said.”
And back-to-back wins for another Real Desire
The Real Desire 4-year-old Real Image p,3,1:52 ($151,115) has now taken the fastest division of the Complex Series at the Meadowlands two weeks in a row. He is owned by Steven Carter, Robert Reid and Chuck Grubbs and is trained by Josh Green. The son of the broodmare Shy Reflection was bred and raised by Brittany Farms and was a graduate of our 2007 yearling consignment in Lexington.
Real Image is slated to sell at the January 18th Meadowlands January Select Mixed Sale, and his buyers will more than likely own the oddsmaker’s choice for the $95,000 Complex Series Final!
Is Brittany-bred millionaire number 22 on the way?
John Cancelliere’s Western Shore p,1:48.4 (Western Hanover-Artomatic), bred, raised and sold as a yearling by Brittany Farms, could well be on his way to becoming the 22nd million-dollar winner bred by the farm, as he increased his career bankroll to $846,850 with a sparkling win in the Presidential Series at the Meadowlands on January 16.
His winning time of 1:49 flat was the fastest mile of the young season, and he carried it out impressively, scoring by nearly six widening lengths as the odds-on favorite. He was purchased at last year’s Meadowlands January Mixed Sale by his current trainer Thomas Cancelliere for $212,000, and he now heads into next week’s $117,000 Presidential Final as a likely candidate for the win.
