Real Desire’s Real Joke sweeps the Clyde Hirt Series
1 . 24 . 2010

Brittany Stallion Management’s Real Desire has harness racing's headline attraction thus far in 2010 in Real Joke p,4,1:51, who made a clean sweep of the Clyde Hirt Series at the Meadowlands by snaring the $90,000 final in 1:51.

Never pushed in his 2010 campaign prior to the final (as he won his previous starts by open lengths), the 4-year-old son of Real Desire-Kiddin’onthesquare, after taking the lead before the half mile marker, dug in gamely down the stretch and held off rival Majestic Jackpot by a half-length.

The victory gave the odds-on favorite a perfect 4 for 4 slate this year. And in regard to his great performances, perhaps the late Clyde Hirt, the Sports Eye columnist for whom the series is named, would have remarked, “stay tuned for more!”

Brittany congratulates owners Brian Gordon, Toby Rekoon and Stewart Goldberg and trainer Julie Miller, and wishes them continued success.

When it comes to siring champion performers on the racetrack and yearlings that command serious attention from buyers, Real Desire is so far from a “real joke” it’s not even funny...he’s the real deal! He stands for a 2010 fee of $7,000 at Walnridge Farm of Pennsylvania, making his foals eligible to the lucrative Pennsylvania Sire Stakes.
