In New York, it’s time to “Start Spreading the News!”
2 . 1 . 2010

As Sinatra sang, it’s time to “start spreading the news,” because among New York pacing sires, there may very well be a new King of the Hill in World Champion American Ideal.

His first crop of foals were hot commodities at the 2009 select yearling sales. They averaged five times his stud fee, and among them was one of the top-priced yearlings in Lexington, the American Ideal-Art’s Temptress colt that sold for $200,000.

Those young and well-bred horses are now in the hands of some of the best trainers in the business as they prep for their 2-year-old careers on the racetrack. Early reports are coming in via phone and email, and to say they’re encouraging is an understatement!

Here’s what two top trainers, who have conditioned a number of champions between them, have to say about their American Ideals:

"I have three and they are all right at the top of my barn. Great-gaited animals with a lot of desire. I am so impressed with them that I am breeding to him this year and I have never bred in New York before." - Erv Miller

"I’m training two and love them both. They are great-gaited and have great attitudes, they really want to do it. It doesn't take a genius to train one and from what I hear up here, a lot of people love theirs." - Ray Schnittker

American Ideal offers breeders a proven attraction in the yearling market, plus a return on investment that may get even better in the years ahead, as his foals hit the New York Sire Stakes circuit and compete in the major open stakes.
