Brittany-bred Chancey Lady wins the Cape & Cutter Final
2 . 20 . 2010
Chancey Lady p,3,1:50.3f ($1,318,347), bred by Brittany Farms and partners and sold as a yearling at the Lexington Selected Sale, went to the front of the pack before the three-quarters and never looked back, winning the $80,000 final of the Meadowlands’ Cape & Cutter Series for mare pacers on Feb. 19.
Sent off as the 6-5 favorite, the daughter of Camluck-Art Of Design (Artsplace), once again in rein to Hall of Fame driver John Campbell, won the 23rd race of her illustrious career and sent her earnings to over $1.3-million. She is among the 21 milionaires that have now been bred by Brittany Farms.
Chancey Lady is owned by the estate of the late Niele Jiwan and trained by Mark Kesmodel. Her career highlights include wins in the $800,000 Fan Hanover Stakes, four $130,000 Ontario Sire Stakes Gold Finals, and elims of the Breeders Crown as both a 2 and 3-year-old.
It’s not easy to find horses like this, but a good place to start is the Brittany Farms yearling consignment. Brittany will sell its 2010 yearlings at the Lexington Selected Sale on October 13-17. The sale roster will be posted here on our website later this year.
