Don't Let'emFollowing in the hoofprints of the successful Brittany-bred first-crop sire Father Patrick, Don’t Let’em, bred, raised and sold as a yearling by Brittany Farms, won the $422,350 Peter Haughton Memorial on Hambletonian Day at the Meadowlands. (Watch Race)

Don’t Let’em 2,1:51.4 ($223,117), by Muscle Hill-Passageway, by Angus Hall, became the year’s fastest 2-year-old trotter with his 1:51.4 tally, which was also a track and stakes record at the Meadowlands.

It was his third win in four starts, with his only defeat coming by way of a fast-closing nose loss to Gerry in the Kindergarten Series, also at the Meadowlands.

Don’t Let’em was purchased for $80,000 at last fall’s Lexington Selected Yearling Sale by his Hall of Fame trainer Jimmy Takter and is owned by the partnership group of John Fielding, Herb Liverman, Christina Takter and Brittany Farms.

Brittany purchased its 25% interest in the colt after the sale, and speaking to Harness Racing Update after the race, farm manager Art Zubrod said “There’s lots of speed in that family, and in this day and age, that’s what the game is all about.

“Don’t Let’em was always fast in the paddock, a very professional type horse, and a good thinker. That’s what it takes anymore, a racehorse has to be a good thinker, in that doesn’t get overly excited about things.”
