Brittany-bred Western Fame leads Levy

Apr 9th, 19

Western FameWestern Fame, making his way up the list of 38 millionaires bred by Brittany Farms or Brittany Farms & Partners, leads the point standings in the 2019 Levy Series at Yonkers Raceway after notching his third win in the event last Saturday night.

The now 6-year-old, owned by Go Fast Stable, Stephen Klunowski, B & I Stables and Gil Short, sports career earnings of $1,130,320—with more likely pouring into his ledger as the racing season progresses.

Western Fame p,2,1:55.4; 3,1:50.1h; 1:48.4f, by Western Ideal-Shyaway, was a multiple stakes winner at 3 whose wins included the Bluegrass at the Red Mile and elims of two classic races—the Breeders Crown and Little Brown Jug. He’s blossomed as an older performer.

His odds-on score in last Saturday’s Levy leg stamped the Rene Allard trainee as the favorite to capture the $200,000 final on April 20, as he won the race by 5 1/2 lengths in 1:50.4 (:27), the fastest mile paced this year over a half-mile track.

We wish the best of luck to his connections in the Levy final and in other races penciled in on his stakes calendar.

Brittany ranks as harness racing’s all-time leading breeder in percentage of millionaires from foals bred, and also ranked #1 last year in average earnings per starter; the only farm with more than $50,000 per horse.

With Brittany-bred 3-year-olds inching closer to their 2019 stakes debuts, and a highly-talented crop of 2-year-olds on the way, we hope and expect those trends will continue.
