« Back

Dec 3rd, 18

Western FameBrittany Farms is harness racing’s leading breeder in percentage of millionaires from foals bred. It added yet another to the list Sunday, as Brittany-bred Western Fame took home honors in Rosecroft Raceway’s $100,000 Potomac Pace.

Western Fame’s 50% share of the purse pushed his career earnings to $1,041,020 and makes him the 38th $1,000,000-plus winner bred by the farm.

With a career mark of 1:48.4f, the now 5-year-old by Western Ideal-Shyaway was a multiple stakes winner at 3 with scores in the Red Mile’s Bluegrass Stakes and in elims of both the Little Brown Jug and Breeders Crown. As an older performer he’s won the Confederation Cup, Prix d’Ete and this year’s Roll With Joe and now the Potomac.

The horse was recently purchased by Go Fast Stable, Stephen Klunowski, B & I Stables and Gil Short. Brittany wishes them continued good fortune as the horse gets a bit of R&R before returning to the FFA stakes wars later this winter.

Brittany Farms has enjoyed one of its most successful years ever with the racing exploits of the horses it has bred, raised and sold as yearlings (story here). As the season draws to a close, the farm takes the opportunity to thank everyone who has purchased those yearlings or bred to its stallions.

Although Brittany is proud to be a leading breeder, it’s understood that it takes outstanding horsemen and women to develop young racehorses into champions.
