2019: The beat goes on for American Ideal!

November 02, 2019

American Ideal has been promoted over time as “the pacing stallion that never has a down year,” and 2019 was no exception. No. 1 in New York earnings; no. 1 in earnings among U.S.-based sires; and a new millionaire… the beat continues loud and strong!

American Ideal’s offspring made more than $14-million this year, which plants him squarely as the national leader among active pacing sires. Of that $14-million, $2,276,713 was earned by his 2 and 3-year-olds in the New York Sire Stakes.

He led all pacing sires in 2019 NYSS earnings by more than $800,000, and by siring 95 race winners in the program, he has 44 more than the next-leading sire. This is the fourth year in a row that he has ranked as the leading sire in the NYSS.

On the national scene, his Brittany-bred son American History p,3,1:47 ($1,037,656) became his 14th millionaire when he surpassed the seven-figure mark capturing the $500,000 Breeders Crown Open Pace. (Watch Race)

His 3-year-olds American Mercury p,3,1:49.3 ($644,943) and Shake That House p,3,1:47.4 ($506,100) both won major sophomore stakes, the former the $500,000 Messenger and Bluegrass and the latter the $500,000 Hempt Memorial. And his 2YOs took 49 wins in the NYSS program and were led by Merga Hanover p,2,1:53.1 (173,749), Freedom Warrior p,2,1:49.4 ($148,697) and American Rebel p,2,1:53.2f ($140,047).

American Ideal’s accomplishments creates high demand for his yearlings from well-bred mares and account for his book being full and closed every year.
