Records fall for pair of American Ideals

Two horses by Brittany Stallion Managementís American Idealóthe 5YO mare Tequila Monday and 3YO gelding American Mercuryóestablished a World Record, new Yonkers track records and North American seasonís records over the last two days.

Tequila Monday, by American Ideal-Margarita Monday, equaled the World Record and became the co-fastest paceróand fastest female paceróin Yonkers history after her 1:50 victory last Friday in the $46,000 Filly & Mare Open Handicap Pace. The time was also a national seasonís record.

The 5-year-old, with a career mark of 1:49.4f, has now earned more than $930,000 for her owners Northfork Racing and Chuck Pompey and trainer Chris Oakes. She was sold as a Harrisburg yearling by her breeder, Winbak Farm.

Americanís Mercuryís tour de force came Thursday night in a split of the $167,500 New York Sire Stakes 3YO Colt Pace. He went wire-to-wire in 1:50.3 to notch his third NYSS win of the year and set both a track and seasonís record.

The sophomore out of Tessa Hanover, who sold as a Lexington yearling for $170,000, took a fast 1:52.4 mark last year at 2. He has really come into his own this season while raising his career bankroll to almost $200,000.

He is owned by Crawford Farms, Northfork Racing, Chuck Pompey & Scott Bice and like Tequila Monday, trained by Chris Oakes. He was bred by Hunterton Farm and partners Cotton and Julie Nash.
