American Ideal: NY’s #1 Pacing Sire (Again)

« Back

Jul 20th, 17

Tequila MondayAmerican Ideal has picked up right where he left off last season. He ranks as New York’s leading pacing sire in both money-earnings and New York Sire Stakes wins, and second among all U.S. pacing sires in 2017 total earnings (to Somebeachsomewhere).

Through July 19 his progeny has earned $6.1-million overall and almost $600,000 in the NYSS alone, with only one to three legs of that series contested to date. (See NYSS earnings chart)

The career sire of eight millionaires (and counting) often means money in the bank to those who own his colts and fillies. And his eligibility to one of the richest and soundest sire stakes programs in the sport helps make sure wallets are kept fat.

He has sired the winners of 14 NYSS divisions to date, with his 3-year-olds led by a trio of three-time winners: last year’s champion 2-year-old colt Funknwaffles p,3,1:51 ($457,896), the classy filly Clear Idea p,3,1:50.4f ($138,675) and Tequila Monday p,3,1:50.4f ($376,959), who also won elims of both the Fan Hanover and James Lynch.

American Ideal sired three winners in the first leg of the 2-year-old NYSS pacing events, with the colts Casual Cool p,2,1:56h and Ghost Dance p,2,1:55.2 and the filly Another Lawsuit p,2,1:56.4f.

As the summer stakes season continues to heat up, American Ideal’s progeny earnings will continue to rise like a thermometer on a sweltering day. And buying one of his yearlings at the select sales this fall could give you plenty of “fun in the sun” in the coming years!
