American Ideal – Best year ever?

July 19, 2021

American Ideal, coming into 2021 off one of his best yearling sale seasons ever, may be on the verge of having perhaps his most successful season at stud this year! Among active sires, he currently ranks No. 1 on the all-age earnings list for active U.S. pacing sires, with $6.7-million to date.

The list of lifetime millionaires he has produced also continues to grow, and now totals 15 — 12 seven-figure earners in North America, and 3 in Australia/New Zealand.

The Blue Chip Farms-New York stallion, managed by Brittany Stallion Management, has sired more than a dozen stakes winners already this season. Those are led by $500,000 Messenger Stakes and Reynolds Memorial winning 3-year-old American Courage p,3,1:49.4f ($479,633), who last year won 7 of 8 starts — six NYSS races plus the Springfield elim and final.

And again this year American Ideal sired the winner of the Springfield, an important early-season 2-year-old stake at Yonkers, as Pleaseletmeknow p,2,1:54.1h ($95,900) swept both the elim and the the $150,000 final.

His other freshmen stakes winners in 2021 include the season’s fastest 2-year-old pacing filly to date, the Nifty Norman trainee Gotthegreenlight p,2,1:51.2. She won the NJ Home Grown Stakes at the Meadowlands in her record mile and is staking her claim as one of the year’s upper echelon youngsters.

Every year since his first crop set foot on the racetrack, American Ideal has sired horses that not only dominate the New York Sire Stakes program, but excel on the national stage.

When you’re going through yearling catalogs this fall, it would be a wise move to keep him on your radar!
