American Ideal colt wins MGM-Springfield

July 14, 2020

The first open stakes race of the year for 2-year-old pacers was won by an American Ideal colt... who made it three wins in three career starts with the victory.

American Courage p,2,1:53.3h, by American Ideal-Nota Fool Bluechip, won both his elim and the $154,250 final of the MGM-Springfield Stakes at Yonkers, taking the final on July 13 in season’s record time of 1:53.3. The odd-on favorite left briskly from the four hole and was never headed.

American Courage is a homebred owned by Fiddler’s Creek Stables of Michigan. He is trained by Travis Alexander and has been driven in all three outings by Matt Kakaley.

American Ideal has been the leading money-winning pacing sire in the New York Sire Stakes for the past four years in a row, and last year was the leading active money-winning pacing sire in the U.S., with his offspring earning more than $14-million.

You’ll find American Ideal yearlings in both Lexington and Harrisburg this fall, and if you’re in the market for a New York Sire Stakes standout with major open stakes potential, be sure to check them out.
