Blue Diamond Eyes wins $253k PASS Final

September 07, 2020

The freshman pacing filly Blue Diamond Eyes p,2,1:51f ($192,042), bred, raised and sold as a yearling by Brittany Farms, equaled Pure Country’s stakes record and set a national season’s record of 1:51 winning the $253,000 Championship Final of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes 2-Year-Old Filly Pace at Pocono last Saturday.

In defeating race favorite Grace Hill and seven others seeking championship glory, she pushed her bankroll to almost $200,000.

As a “dual-eligible” filly, she now moves on to the $250,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship at the Red Mile, where she won a leg on Aug. 17. If all goes according to plan, she is then slated for action in both weeks of Grand Circuit stakes at the Red Mile followed by the Breeders Crown at Hoosier Park.

The rising star, by Captaintreacherous-Aria Hanover, was purchased for $180,000 from the Brittany Farms consignment at last year’s Lexington Selected Yearling Sale by current owners Scott and Thomas Dillon. She is trained by Ron Burke.

Blue Diamond Eyes is the second foal of her 100% producing dam and a full sister to Captain Kirk p,3,1:48.3, also a 2-year-old stakes winner who won his elimination for this year’s $1,000,000 North America Cup.

Brittany wishes continued success to her connections as the fall racing season swings into high gear.

The farm’s “quality over quantity” consignment at this year’s Lexington Sale (Oct. 5-9) features more like her, eligible to the sire stakes program in the state or province where their sire stands, and to the Kentucky Sire Stakes. Take a look!
