Brittany breds win 3 Breeders Crown elims

October 21, 2019

Three horses bred, raised and sold as yearlings by Brittany Farms took impressive victories in their Breeders Crown eliminations last Saturday at Mohawk: Bettor’s Wish, Manchego, and Don’t Let’em. And another Brittany-bred, 2YO filly pacer Reflect With Me, finished second in her elim on Friday.

Brittany Farms is the second-leading overall breeder of Breeders Crown champions, with 22 to its credit, and by far the leading percentage breeder of Crown champions from foals bred. We we wish the connections of these horses the best of luck in the coming weekend’s finals, and hope they’re successful in raising the tally of champions the farm has produced.

Bettor’s Wish p,3,1:47.4 ($1,573,350), by Bettor’s Delight-Lifetime Star, will go into the $500,000 3YO Colt Pace Final as the heavy favorite after notching his seventh win from his last eight starts. (Watch race) The year’s richest Standardbred is owned by trainer Chris Ryder, Bella Racing, Fair Island Farm and Bettor’s Wish Partners.

Manchego 4,1:49 ($1,860,330), the undefeated 2YO Dan Patch Champion, World Champion and Hambletonian Oaks winner by Muscle Hill-Secret Magic, heads into the $325,000 Open Mare Trot Final after an in-hand, gate-to-wire score in her elim, living up to her 1/5 favoritism. (Watch race) She is owned by Black Horse Racing and trained by Nancy Johansson.

And finally, Don’t Let’em 3,1:50.2 ($454,817) is demonstrating the speed and ability he showed as a 2-year-old when he won the $422,000 Peter Haughton Memorial in stakes, season and Meadowlands track record time of 1:51.4.

The son of Muscle Hill-Passageway went straight to the top, never looked back, and never feared as he won his 3YO Colt Trot elim in a track and Canadian record-equaling time of 1:51.3. (Watch race) The Nancy Johansson trainee now steps into the marquee matchup, the $500,000 final, for owners Christina Takter, John Fielding, Herb Liverman and Brittany Farms.

Again, best of racing luck to these horses. It should be a Breeders Crown to remember!
