Six Pack earns Dan Patch honors

December 20, 2018

The connections of multiple World Champion Six Pack were rewarded for an exceptional season by being voted the Dan Patch Award as “3-Year-Old Male Trotter of the Year” by the U.S. Harness Writers Association. The announcement was made yesterday.

The Muscle Mass-Pleasing Lady colt, bred, raised and sold as a Lexington Selected yearling by Brittany Farms, is owned by his trainer (and yearling purchaser) Ake Svanstedt along with Jeff Gural’s Little E LLC, Tomas Oloffson’s Stall Kalmar FF and Lars Berg.

Brittany extends its congratulations to them all!

Six Pack 3,1:49.1 has earned $1,358,290—$1,159,6348 of that this past year—while winning two legs of trotting’s Triple Crown. He ended the season as the sport's fastest and richest sophomore trotting colt.

He first established a World Record for 3-year-olds winning his $181,000 division of the Stanley Dancer Memorial at the Meadowlands in mid-July, then lowered his own standard with a 1:49.1 score in the $434,000 final of the Kentucky Futurity in October at the Red Mile.

One can assume that Six Pack was voted the Dan Patch over the well-respected Tactical Landing thanks in part to a stellar “full season,” World Record-setting campaign that started with stakes victories in early May and ended with a second-place finish in the $350,000 TVG Final on Thanksgiving weekend.

Plans call for Six Pack to be rested and then readied for a 2019 itinerary that would include FFA stakes races in the U.S. and perhaps abroad. His trainer has said, “I believe he can go even faster,” which should make the coming year one to look forward to!
